Psychotherapy

Psychotherapists work with individuals, couples and families to help improve and maintain their mental health and well-being. Individuals seek psychotherapy when they have thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that are adversely affecting their daily lives and relationships.

I am a Registered Social Worker and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. With a Master’s in Social Work and a Graduate Certificate in Concurrent Disorders, my passion for helping others has been nurtured by practice experience in the community mental health, addictions, and post-secondary sectors.

I use an eclectic mix of evidence-based modalities coupled with strengths-based and collaborative approaches to support clients, believing that no one knows your life experience better than you. I center my practice on the belief that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for growth and change, often using compassion and humour, in addition to therapeutic tools, to make you feel comfortable and build trust between us.

Using trauma-informed and ecological systems frameworks, together we can explore how our environments, current and historical, shape the stories we tell ourselves, who we are, and how we navigate through the world. I strive to provide a safe, warm, and non-judgmental space where we can develop new and adaptive coping strategies, build a deeper connection to our authentic selves, and navigate life’s challenges together to create meaningful change.

I have known since I was 16 years old that psychology, mental health advocacy, and helping others were true passions of mine. My journey with counselling others started just over a decade ago, as a volunteer peer counsellor and a distress line volunteer. Not only did I gain experience, but I truly loved both roles. Since then, I have worked in the field of addiction, and furthered my education.

I have done a lot of my own therapeutic work to become more authentically and intentionally myself. I’d love walk alongside you to support you do the same. When I am not in the therapist role, I love to spend time in nature, paint, go to the gym, and hang out with my friends and family (my Maine coon cat included of course!).

I completely understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming. My goal is to hold a judgment free, and compassionate space for you to be honest about what you are struggling with. I want to know what you are going through that is holding you back or keeping you in a unhelpful thought cycle. When we work together, my hope is to help you develop ways of coping that help you feel confidence and grounded and maintain positive changes in your life.
